Req #: 0000242949 Category: Respiratory Job Overview Assesses patients’ pulmonary status, develops plan of care in collaboration with physicians and nurses, and delivers respiratory care to patients. Reports identified safety issues such as hazardous environments and medical errors. Qualifications Required: NJ licensure as Respiratory Care Practitioner BLS Certifications in PALS and NRP to be obtained within the first twelve months of employment for all full‑ and part‑time staff Preferred: AA/AS degree CRT or RRT Certification by NBRC Scheduling Requirements Shift: Day Part Time Essential Functions Adheres to documentation standards: contributes to a comprehensive plan of care, documents interventions, and participates in multidisciplinary teaching records. Assumes responsibility for reducing length of stay through timely delivery of clinical interventions and delegating follow‑up respiratory treatments. CPR (Adult, PALS, NALS) Collaborates daily with the multidisciplinary team in developing and progressing overall respiratory care plans. Collaborates with RN and reinforces plan of care daily with patient and family. Evaluates treatment, orders/confirms appropriateness, and initiates treatments of MDI, HFN, CPT, aerosol. Initiates an accurate pulmonary history and assessment during initial and subsequent therapies. Intubates in emergencies/extubates per MD orders. Manages transport of ventilated patients. Participates in monitoring patient care outcomes per targets/goals or performance improvement. Participates in quality monitoring to identify variances that increase length of stay. Participates in orientation of associate staff new to service areas. Performs techniques/procedures for processing ABGs. Provides cardiac monitoring within scope of practice. Responds to CAC and performs life support measures. Serves as preceptor during orientation of new respiratory therapists. Uses mentoring skills to advance team knowledge and clinical skills. Utilizes Medication Pyxis according to guidelines.
