About the Position

The nurse will provide postpartum and newborn care. Weekend commitment is every third weekend unless specified otherwise. There is no call requirement. Floating within the facility and scope of practice may be required as needed. The unit has a minimum patient ratio of 2:1 for both day and night shifts. The average daily census in the unit is 6 patients. The number of rooms is 7 with a total of 7 beds. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. The nurse will be responsible for high-risk antepartum care and postpartum hemorrhage management. Job responsibilities also include circumcision care teaching and breastfeeding support. Comprehensive patient care, including discharge teaching to parents, is expected. Skills in starting and maintaining IVs and use of infusion pumps are necessary. The position also involves labor and delivery support along with newborn assessment. Compliance with onboarding and orientation requirements is mandatory.
