Principal Administrative Associate (CANDIDATES MUST BE PERMANENT IN THE CIVIL SERVICE) The Center for Health Equity & Community Wellness (CHECW) seeks to eliminate racial and other inequities that lead to premature mortality. With a grounding in history and structural analysis, CHECW increases visibility of harms perpetuated by centuries of racist, socially unjust policy, and pushes toward redress for the most impacted NYC communities. CHECW addresses inequity across community and healthcare systems in partnership with community, faith‑based, and health care organizations. CHECW’s work focuses on social determinants of health, including environmental and commercial determinants, and addresses both upstream and downstream factors to improve health and well‑being of New Yorkers. Duties (Will Include But Not Be Limited To) Provide administrative support to AC and ED by coordinating internal trainings, meetings, and external partner developments. Manage bureau meetings (leadership, directors, and all‑staff) by setting agendas, facilitating discussions, gathering meeting outcomes, and tracking action items and next steps. Manage administrative functions of the bureau, including: Partner with BFAS/HR to update and track bureau staffing and HR policies. Manage new hire onboarding and staff off‑boarding with bureau hiring managers. Manage administrative procurement, complete purchase orders and contracts, and support budget tracking. Liaise with BFAS Operations, facility management, and IT. Identify areas of improvement across the bureau and make actionable recommendations. Organize office operations and procedures, and assign and monitor administrative functions. Oversee facility conditions and coordinate with vendors and IT. Coordinate building events and guests. Manage and supervise office management staff. Complete special projects and initiatives. Represent Bureau of Harlem Neighborhood Health at meetings as needed. Liaise as needed with other bureaus/divisions in support of administrative duties. Support response to emergency operations and continuity of operations of the bureau. Preferred Skills Active collaborator with varied audiences. Excellent written, verbal, and active listening communication skills. Strong coordination and organizational skills, with ability to handle multiple priorities. Detail oriented; able to manage projects and work independently. Good time management for planning and decision making. Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent customer‑service skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Minimum Qualifications Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full‑time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience, one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty. Associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full‑time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in 1 above. A four‑year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full‑time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in 1 above. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1, 2, or 3 above. However, all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in 1 above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in 1 above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years.
