Veterinary Extern - General Practice

An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give veterinary students the unique opportunity to understand day‑to‑day operations of a full‑service animal practice and to gain hands‑on clinical experience. Clinic Bayview Animal Clinic is located in Sunny Fort Lauderdale, walking distance to the beach, and has operated for over 50 years. Responsibilities Gather patient histories Perform physical examinations Create treatment plans and manage patient care Assist in diagnostics and dentistry services Observe, assist, or perform surgical procedures Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients Program Details Externship length ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships are offered to students in their final clinical year of veterinary school. Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel and living expense stipend. Stipend amounts and program details are available on the NVA careers site.
