Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active Illinois License required Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA) Must-Have: Central line care, arterial lines, bedside bronchoscopy, cardiac arrest AHA guidelines Description: The role involves providing critical care in an intensive care setting. You will care for patients with complex medical conditions. Common diagnoses include sepsis, ARDS, ARF, cardiac dysrhythmias, postoperative complex care, overdose, and behavioral health medical complexities. You will work with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2, which can increase to 1:3 based on patient acuity and overflow patients. You will be responsible for titrating drips such as cardizem, propofol, amiodarone, norepinephrine, and presadex. Team members will include hospitalists available 24/7 and critical care physicians from 7 am to 7 pm. Respiratory Therapy will be present in the unit 24/7. Equipment used includes ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, and heated high flow. Solid color scrubs or designated attire must be maintained as per dress code policy. There is a weekend work requirement every other weekend and a holiday work requirement every other holiday. Additional training specific to the unit/department may be required. Nurse aides are not available, and RNs will read cardiac strips. Floating to other medical/surgical units may be required. You must understand the importance of maintaining a drug-free environment and will be required to pass a drug screen.
