The RN is responsible for the prevention of illness and injury, and the alleviation of suffering. The RN engages in the diagnosis and treatment of human responses and advocates for individuals and families. The RN is accountable for compliance with all standards of practice and professional development. The RN promotes a caring and healing environment for patient-centered care. The RN assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements, and evaluates nursing care for a group of patients. The RN serves as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse based on unit assignment. The RN utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications. The RN shares in responsibility for productivity and effective resource utilization. The RN complies with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and policies. The RN actively participates in and supports shared governance by participating in initiatives. The RN engages in professional development, continuing education, and mandatory requirements. The RN integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice. The RN provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students. The RN performs duties related to the Charge Nurse or Shift Coordinator role when assigned. The RN may assume additional responsibilities as assigned. The RN has current experience working in an emergency department, including knowledge in trauma, STEMI, stroke, sepsis, and pediatric care.
