Diesel Mechanic

What You’ll Do Promote Safety: take an active role in prioritizing safety throughout the operation in accordance with MSHA and Vulcan standards. Repair and Maintain Mobile Equipment: service, repair, adjust, and test all mobile equipment that operates throughout the plant to maximize performance and limit downtime. Inspect Equipment and Materials: inspect all mobile equipment to identify and troubleshoot errors. Perform repairs when necessary. Handle and Move Objects: handle, install, position, and move parts, materials, and industrial hand tools in a safe manner throughout the shop and plant. Document and Record Information: ensure correct and accurate documentation is completed daily and monthly regarding all mobile equipment. Enter and maintain service reports in written or electronic form. Operate Equipment: assist in driving heavy equipment and vehicles throughout the plant to ensure production continues efficiently. Perform General Physical Activities: perform physical activities that require moving your whole body and considerable use of your arms and legs, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. Requirements Previous experience working on diesel or heavy construction equipment. Knowledge of general principles and practices of servicing heavy construction equipment. Willingness to work overtime and extended hours, including outside in all weather conditions and exposure to loud noises. Mechanical skills: some knowledge of industrial tools, their uses, and maintenance. Benefits Medical, dental, and vision programs.
