IT Service Desk Specialist

Job Description and Duties

Under direction of the Workplace and Collaboration Services section’s supervisor (an Information Technology Supervisor II), incumbent holds the responsibility for activities in IT Service Desk, desk-side and remote IT support, and Microsoft 365 administration activities.

The IT Service Desk Specialist is responsible for providing advanced incident management and Service Desk escalation, endpoint management and Microsoft Intune administration, service request fulfillment and systems administration, workplace computing support, and knowledge management, documentation, and continual service improvement.

Working Conditions

This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule which includes up to three days of remote work per week. Additional in office days may be required based on the business need.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Experience: The ideal candidate will have prior experience in providing IT Service Desk support and supporting Microsoft365 technologies, including Microsoft Intune and Windows 11 serving in either a systems administrator or Microsoft365 engineer capacity.
• Technical expertise: The candidate must have current or past experience in implementing and managing Windows 10/11, Entra ID, Intune, Teams, OneDrive, Exchange Online, and related technologies.
• Communication skills: Effective communication is crucial in this role. The candidate should be able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Continuous learning: Workplace technologies are evolving rapidly, and a successful candidate must have a mindset of continuous learning and a willingness to adapt to changing technologies and trends.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If you are meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification in your application packet. Official sealed transcripts or your original diploma (with embossed seal) will be required prior to appointment. If it is determined that a candidate does not meet all Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the classification. All candidates who are determined to not meet the Minimum Qualifications will be contacted in writing and will have 10 business days to respond with additional information supporting their Minimum Qualifications for the classification. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.
