• Working knowledge of the Hawaiian Language
• In-depth knowledge of the Hawaiian Culture and class subjects
• Must have working knowledge and able to instruct in specialty classes: Hawaiian Culture, History, Language, and various traditional Hawaiian practices and lifestyle.
• Ability to listen and communicate effectively with resort guests and other team members.
• Ability to extend arms, stoop, stand, bend, and walk in public areas for extended periods of time.
• Ability to read reports.
• Ability to write sign-out logs and monitor inventory.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Ability to work in cold and hot weather.
• Computer literate.
• Detail oriented and flexibility to easily adapt.
• Good interpersonal, organizational, and professional skills.

When you join our Hotels team, that's exactly what you'll do every time you come to work! As a Cultural Resource Specialist, you're not just providing support to Hawaiian Culture department manager – you're spreading the light and warmth of hospitality by delivering memorable experiences that make the stay for every guest.

Here's what you'll do during a typical day:

• Create meaningful Hawaiian cultural experiences: Share the rich traditions, values, and stories of Hawai? i by delivering engaging cultural activities and experiences that create a true sense of place for guests while supporting the Director of Culture as needed.
• Lead immersive cultural classes and demonstrations: Facilitate a variety of hands-on experiences such as Hawaiian language lessons, hula, ? ukulele, lei making, coconut husking, lauhala weaving, Hawaiian games, and other cultural demonstrations that celebrate the spirit of Hawai? i.
• Innovate and enhance cultural programming: Research, develop, and implement new cultural activities, events, and guest experiences that further position Grand Wailea as Hawai? i's premier destination for authentic cultural connection and innovation.
• Support team member engagement initiatives: Assist with recognition programs, service anniversary celebrations, holiday events, team member appreciation activities, survey initiatives, and other programs that foster a positive and connected workplace culture.
• Strengthen community partnerships: Participate in and support community outreach efforts, charitable events, youth hospitality programs, career days, and other initiatives that reinforce Grand Wailea's commitment to the Maui community.
• Champion the spirit of aloha: Serve as a cultural ambassador by sharing knowledge, building connections, and creating memorable experiences that embody the warmth, hospitality, and traditions of Hawai? i.
