Business Summary:
A leading space and defense organization is seeking a Senior Director of Finance to provide financial leadership for its Defense business.
Requirements:This position will shape financial strategy, strengthen operational finance, and ensure fiscal integrity across the organization. The Senior Director will oversee the site controller and finance team while partnering closely with site and corporate leadership to improve financial performance, support strategic decision-making, and drive long-term business growth.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 12+ years of progressive finance experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role
- Strong background in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Experience with FAR, DFARS, and U.S. Department of Defense contracting
- Experience with SOX compliance
- Experience managing controllers or finance teams in a complex business environment
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and financial risk management
- Experience with capital investment, operational improvement, or cost-reduction initiatives
- Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills
- Experience with Power BI or similar financial data visualization tools
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or NetSuite
- Strong analytical, leadership, communication, and presentation skills
- MBA or related advanced degree preferred
- Must meet U.S. person requirements under applicable U.S. export control laws
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with business objectives and long-term planning
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Partner with senior leadership on financial performance, risk management, investment decisions, and business strategy
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Oversee the site controller and finance organization
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and treasury activities
- Strengthen internal controls, financial processes, and systems
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, statutory requirements, tax obligations, and applicable regulations
- Support audits and coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory organizations
- Analyze business performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability, operations, and costs
- Present financial results, forecasts, and recommendations to senior leadership
- Develop and mentor finance team members
- Support fundraising and investor relations activities as required
