By blending people-centric leadership with disciplined operational strategies and purpose-driven growth, Barry-Wehmiller has become a $3 billion organization with nearly 12,000 team members united by a common belief: to use the power of business to build a better world.Job Description:Perform Electrical design, technical analysis and/or resolution of engineering problems with consideration of manufacturing feasibility, cost, and operationEssential Functions:Design/alteration of highly complex electrical equipmentTest and debug highly complex equipment to isolate defectsPrepare layouts using CAD toolsEvaluation of highly complex designs; make engineering changesEvaluate new partsPrepare schematics, detailed drawings and bills of material (BOM)Provide expertise and support manufacturing/assembly teamsManage and maintain project fileTravel to customer site to provide expertise and support field teams with technical assistance as requiredLeads, coaches, or mentors less experienced team membersMay act as a supervisor to the teamOther duties as assignedJob Specifications:Must be able to perform all level 4 duties competentlyMust have core power electronics skills:Circuit theory and analysisHigh-speed digital circuit designMixed signal / Analog circuit designUse of Semiconductor devices in designsCreating schematics using design softwareCreating PCB layouts using design softwareCircuit simulations and analysisTesting and debugging of prototype circuitsMicrocontroller and DSP interfacing and programmingFPGA programming and implementationModern and Classical control theoryInstrumentation for validation of PCB designs and Power Electronic ComponentsKnowledge of industry standards and regulations such as EMC/EMI complianceKnowledge of CE, UL or CSA standardsExperience with power electronicsAbility to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and mechanical assembly layoutsAdvanced knowledge of CAD and engineering systemsStrong logical and reasoning abilitiesProblem-solving abilityAdvanced knowledge of manufacturing methods; electrical design and project managementVerbal and written communication skillsAbility to work in customer’s facility and manage that relationshipAbility to work with senior leadership and offer solutionsLeadership skillsRequired Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineeringTypically has 8+ years of experience in electrical engineeringSupervisory/Responsibility:Role reports to Engineering Supervisor, Engineering Manager or Principal Electrical Engineer; may lead an engineering project teamWork Environment:This is an office position associated with a manufacturing facility. Although the employee may spend a portion of his/her time in the office area, the employee’s essential job duties also require the employee to spend a portion of his/her time in the manufacturing area.
