Job Summary - The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Kentucky, College of Medicine is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible general OBGYN for a full-time position at the UK Women's Georgetown OBGYN Practice and Georgetown Community Hospital in Georgetown, Kentucky. Major responsibilities of this position include comprehensive Obstetrics and Gynecology practice and participation in teaching activities with medical students. Development and participation in educational and community activities and involvement in hospital and university committees is strongly encouraged. Experience and enthusiasm in teaching and supervising medical students is desirable. Job responsibilities include: Building a comprehensive OB/GYN clinical practice. Expectation is for nine half-days per week of clinical practice with some combination of Clinic, Operating room-surgery, and Labor and Delivery. Night, weekend, and holiday call will be shared equally among the UK Georgetown practice and UKHC faculty. Excellence in Clinical teaching with medical students and potentially other health care students is expected. In addition, working in partnership with UKCOM and the OBGYN Clerkship Director to build a strong educational clinical site for the UKCOM OBGYN-clerkship.

The UK College of Medicine Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology is a strong, multidisciplinary team dedicated to advancing Kentucky health care together. Our department encompasses 47 faculty members, 30 Advanced Practice Providers, and more than 225 learners. The Joint Commission's Maternal Levels of Care (MLC) Verification program, offered in collaboration with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), named UK HealthCare as a Level IV maternal care verified facility. As a Level IV facility, UK HealthCare provides expert and compassionate care for critically ill and high-risk maternity patients. The MLC Verification program provides an objective assessment of a facility's capabilities, and verifies that a hospital has the expertise, equipment, and resources in place for a patient's specific needs and risk level. As a top hospital in Kentucky, UK HealthCare provides the highest level of maternity care and receives patients from other hospitals who have high-risk pregnancies or experience complications during labor. UK HealthCare underwent a comprehensive onsite review in early 2025 to verify the level of care provided.

Each year, providers in the department care for thousands of patients across several clinical sites around the state. Currently, the department offers outreach services in ovarian cancer screening, gynecologic oncology, general gynecology, and high-risk obstetrics at more than 24 locations throughout the state. Additionally, 22 new sites are in the planning stages, with some current locations adding more clinic days to better serve patients. The department trains 28 residents and fellows across ACGME accredited programs, while also contributing to the education of medical students and graduate trainees.

Faculty secure over $75 million in grant funding annually to pursue cutting-edge research and discoveries. Our research division offers a dynamic and collaborative environment spanning three key areas of women's health: reproductive endocrinology and infertility, gynecologic oncology, and maternal fetal medicine. Our research team explores critical questions in ovarian function, hormone regulation, inflammation, and the impact of endocrine-disrupting chemicals. We also lead epidemiologic investigations into the health effects of intimate partner violence, sexual violence, and related adverse outcomesbridging science with real-world health challenges. With longstanding support from federal agencies such as the NIH and CDC, and a strong record of publication in leading medical and scientific journals, our work reflects a commitment to high-impact, translational research.
