POSITION TITLE: Center Supervisor

PROGRAM/LOCATION: Wellness Centers/ Lompoc

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Under the supervision of the Program Manager for the Helping Hands of Lompoc Wellness Center (H2L), the Center Supervisor is responsible for trauma-informed supervision and coordination of staff, programs, and facilities that provide wellness and recovery support and education and social rehabilitation day programs for adults with mental illness. The Center Supervisor for the Lompoc Wellness Center is responsible for the organization and direction of the Wellness Center designed to assist adults in their journey to mental health wellness & recovery, as well as connecting members and participants to their community. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining consumer-driven services that empower individuals in recovery while fostering self-respect, dignity, and self-determination. The Center Supervisor must be capable of assuming program duties in the absence of the Program Manager. This position promotes wellness, recovery, empowerment, and advocacy for members and participants and requires knowledge and skills in all aspects of the Wellness Center. The Center Supervisor will uphold and promote the Center philosophy as well as the philosophy of TMHA in all duties performed. The Helping Hands of Lompoc Wellness Center philosophy focuses on the individual person, their journey to wellness, providing education, empowerment, and support to help the person live the best life they choose to live.

HOURS/ SALARY EMPLOYEE PERKS:

Full-time, non-exempt position. 40 hours per week. Anticipated hiring range is $25.00-$27.00. Includes a generous individual benefits package that includes health, dental, vision, life, 403b retirement (with up to a 5% employer match) paid vacation/holiday time, paid sick time and a variety of helpful employee perks as well. (*Full Salary Schedule $25.00-$28.00 per hour).

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

1. Understand, implement, and ensure social rehabilitation standards and philosophy in all programs in addition to promoting the basic tenets of mental health recovery: Hope, Personal Responsibility, Self-Advocacy, Education, and Support. This includes promoting a shift of focus in mental health care from symptom control to prevention and recovery.

2. Ensures that services provided by the Lompoc Wellness Center are tailored for multiple age groups and various cultures, with a focus on mental health recovery, independence, advocacy, and empowerment. Based on member feedback, the Center Supervisor also ensures that the Lompoc Wellness Center offers social support, skills training, recreation activities, and assistance with independent living skill development.

3. Encourages all members to take an active role in the running of their center, facilitates the development of peer-run activities, leadership opportunities (i.e. paid activities, outreach events, presentations, etc.), and includes members in program decision-making on all levels.

4. Represents management in a positive manner and is responsible for upholding agency policies. Takes ownership of these policies, enforcing them as needed, and directs any questions or issues that arise to management for resolution.

5. In coordination with the Program Manager, hire, train, supervise and develop program staff, interns and volunteers; this includes interviews, evaluations, consultations, terminations and scheduling of all staff, interns and volunteers.

6. Provides curriculum-based groups and workshops on an ongoing basis in English and Spanish if bilingual, to members and participants. Curriculums to include: prevocational skills, goal setting, social skills, self expression, critical thinking, positive thinking skills, budgeting skills, coping skills, symptom education, recreation skills, physical health education, problem solving, nutrition education, depression education, anxiety education, self- awareness, teamwork skills, money management, cultural awareness, interpersonal skills, meditation & relaxation education, and self esteem.

7. Ensure the accurate completion of all program-related paperwork, record keeping and budget oversight, including managing time sheets, input of monthly data, petty cash, attendance forms, RAMP card use and receipts, food and material inventory, units of service forms and the purchase of food and materials weekly for the program, ensuring that all budget allocations comply with the TMHA Finance policies and protocols.

8. Track and record weekly program intakes, referrals, member admissions, attendance, and demographic statistics. Ensure the weekly upload of member demographics and attendance complies with County protocols, HIPAA confidentiality standards, and record-keeping requirements for all program information. Utilize data collection tools based on contract outcomes to submit a monthly data report to the Performance Outcomes Evaluator under the guidance of the manager

9. Meets with staff weekly and reports all significant program and member issues daily to the Program Manager. Center Supervisor must attend other meetings as required and work as part of a collaborative team with peers, members, and the staff of other TMHA programs, the Department of Behavioral Wellness, and other agencies.

10. Meet weekly with the Program Manager to discuss program issues and collaborate on program development, program evaluation, and budget oversight.

11. Responsible for the regular review of program compliance as a Medi-Cal billable site and adherence to agency standards. This includes implementing new county or agency policies, monthly updating the Medi-Cal and County compliance wall, following agency policies, and adhering to recognized professional ethical standards, safety regulations, maintenance standards, and monthly logging and submission of records for program sites and vehicles.

12. Responsible for creating an inclusive, welcoming environment for staff, interns, volunteers, and members, while overseeing program staff professionally, providing guidance, problem solving, direct support and coaching under the manager's direction to their team on daily work activities or projects, and monitoring employee performance to ensure maximum productivity, the consistent meeting of contractual quotas and growth and expansion of individual abilities and knowledge.

13. Promote, encourage, and maintain trauma-informed practices in all services and activities. Practice and promote, both individually and in team meetings, TMHAs Collaborative Communication Guidelines in order to facilitate clear, empathetic and person-centered communication.

14. Participate in Outreach Community Activities to educate the community on Wellness Center Resources and ways of eliminating mental health discrimination and stigma while advocating for and promoting peer-run services.

15. Promote program involvement in events and activities both within the agency and in the community (e.g., CFMAT meeting, TMHA holiday celebrations, Bowl-A-Thon, Opening Minds Art Show, etc.). Connect members to various community resources (including all TMHA Programs in SLO County & N. Santa Barbara County). Basic resources include transportation, volunteer opportunities, center leadership opportunities, social activities, education, training, etc.

16. Communicates with the Department of Behavioral Wellness, Lompoc FSP, Lompoc Housing Authority, and other agency staff regarding the health and progress of clients who attend the Wellness Center. Attends periodic team meetings with the Department of Behavioral Wellness, regional social service provider meetings, CFMAT, and other agency meetings to collaborate and provide program updates. Maintaining a positive relationship with the county is imperative as the two agencies work cooperatively for the benefit and recruitment of mental health clients to participate in center activities.

17. Ensure a clean, safe, healthy, and welcoming environment at the Lompoc Wellness Center.

18. Communicates both positive and constructive feedback clearly and in a timely manner with staff, documenting when necessary. Remains approachable and open for staff to communicate problems or ask questions. Assists with giving staff periodic performance reviews.

19. Completes required hours of in-service training and attends all required meetings and monitors staff completion of the same. Promotes and facilitates the development of additional training to meet specific program needs.

20. Follows Medi-Cal documentation standards by completing assigned Medi-Cal service and documentation quota weekly in addition to training and supporting all direct service staff members who bill to Medi-Cal. Work as a liaison with County Mental Health staff to maintain and update documentation standards as well as oversight in the timely delivery of billing.

21. Conduct orientations, complete required Medi-Cal documentation in accordance with standards set forth by TMHA & Santa Barbara County, develop and update individualized SmartCare client care plans, and provide ongoing follow-up with participants to monitor progress and support goal achievement. Will develop and implement client discharge plans as needed.

22. Medi-Cal billing provides a critical portion of funding for this program. You are expected to reach documentation and billing goals as set by Program Manager and Director.

23. All direct service staff are expected to spend at least 50% of their work time in direct service and support of clients, unless otherwise assigned by your supervisor.

24. Assumes other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Program Manager

JOB ENVIRONMENT:

1. Moderate, physical activity and frequent driving; may include moving or lifting up to 50lbs.

2. Involves moderate risks which require safety precautions and the risk of exposure to challenging situations.

3. Position immediately supervises one or more employees and supports the team approach to meeting program objectives.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Associates Degree and minimum of six months of experience in a mental health/social service setting or 2 years experience in a mental health/social service setting.

2. Individuals must have lived experience as a consumer or family member of mental health services.

3. Spanish bilingual/bicultural preferred.

4. State-certified peer specialist preferred.

5. Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative work style, and strong oral, written, and communication skills.

6. Must be responsible and reliable and possess problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.

7. Well-defined organizational and time management skills.

8. Ability to work independently and flexibly

9. Ability to handle intense situations, display good judgment and decision-making skills, and remain calm and clearheaded under pressure.

10. Able to work effectively with a variety of people and personality types regardless of age, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, or socio-economic level

11. Ability to possess and maintain good physical and mental health.

12. Ability to work well within a team and maintain a professional, respectful attitude in the workplace.

13. Ability to be willing to work with supervisor oversight and direction.

19. Conditions of employment include:

Must be at least 18 years of age; possess a valid CA Drivers License, at least 2 years driving experience and DMV driving record that meets TMHAs current vehicle insurance requirements. May be required to utilize reliable personal vehicle and auto insurance.

Must comply with a TB assessment (possibly a TB test if needed to confirm a negative tuberculosis result) and receipt of a criminal record clearance through fingerprinting.

Must be able to successfully complete First Aid and CPR training.
