Job Description:

The RN in the Oncology unit on 5 South Hematology Oncology is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients with various hematological and oncological conditions. The unit is equipped for up to 32 patients, and nurses typically manage 1:5 to 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratios, adjusting for higher acuity patients as needed. This position requires proficiency in EPIC, strong time management skills, and a collaborative team approach.

Responsibilities:

• Administer and manage chemotherapy treatments as instructed by the manager.
• Perform nursing duties for hematology and oncology patients, including those with complex needs.
• Manage cardiac drips and titrate drips such as heparin and amiodarone as required.
• Collaborate with the central monitor station for continuous patient monitoring.
• Participate in patient care assignments as a charge nurse, taking lighter assignments and supporting staff as needed.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a Level 1 or large hospital (500+ beds) facility.
• Proficiency in EPIC charting system (no on-site training available).
• Current BLS certification required.
• Experience with level 1 trauma patients and high acuity cases.
• Ability to float within skillset across all medsurg units.
• Adherence to solid, professional scrub colors and dress code.
