Schedule / Job Type

Contract (13 Weeks) | 12-Hour Night Shifts (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a high-acuity cardiac/renal medical-surgical telemetry unit (41 beds) managing conditions including AFib with RVR, flutter, heart blocks, CHF, COPD, sepsis, BH/CIWA, post-ablation, and dialysis patients
• Perform continuous telemetry monitoring and 12-lead EKG interpretation , including passing required telemetry competency testing
• Initiate and titrate drips including antiarrhythmics, Heparin, aminophylline, Cardizem, Tikosyn, and Amiodarone
• Manage chest tubes, indwelling drains, nephrostomy tubes, CBI, and perform PIV insertion
• Float within skillset to a secondary campus location with a minimum of 2-hour notice; mid-shift float within the same campus is also possible
• May be required to precept students and new hires; adhere to attendance standards as call-ins may result in contract termination

Required Qualifications

• Current active compact RN license required
• AHA BLS certification required
• AHA ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of strong cardiac/telemetry nursing experience
• At least 1 prior travel nursing assignment and Trauma Level II experience required
• Recent Epic EMR experience required (competency check-off class required upon start)
• Must not reside within 40 miles of the facility to be eligible

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with high-acuity cardiac patient populations including heart catheterization without intervention and post-ablation care
• Proficiency initiating and managing stable and antidysrhythmic drip protocols
• Strong critical thinking, assessment skills, and adaptability to change in a fast-paced environment
• Experience in a teaching hospital setting with comfort precepting students or new staff
