TravelNurseSource is working with Alerion Healthcare, LLC to find a qualified ICU/Critical Care RN in Rochester, New York, 14642!

This is a Travel position. You must live more than 30 miles from the facility to be considered for this position.

Description:

Neurosurgical RN – Step-Down / High-Acuity Unit

Shift Details

  • Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts
  • Shift rotation: Days, Evenings, and Nights (Rotating)
  • Weekends, Holidays, On-Call, and Callback required per unit needs
  • Hours per week: 36 or 48

Position Overview

  • Work on a neurosurgical unit offering extraordinary opportunities to care for a diverse patient population
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams specializing in brain tumors, spinal malformations, neuroendovascular, and epilepsy surgery
  • Mixed-acuity unit consisting of both floor-level care and an 8-bed high-acuity step-down unit
  • Step-down patients require hemodynamic and neurological monitoring for more complex needs

Ideal Clinical Experience Includes

  • Q1 neuro checks
  • EVDs (External Ventricular Drains)
  • Lumbar drains
  • Subdural drains
  • 3% NS administration
  • Cardene drips
  • Arterial lines
  • Carotid endarterectomy
  • Aneurysm coiling/clips
  • DBS Insertion (Deep Brain Stimulator)
  • VP shunts
  • Seizure management

Required Qualifications

  • RN License – New York (NY) license only; no other state licenses accepted at this time
  • Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience
  • Step-Down / PCU experience required
  • High-acuity stroke and neurosurgery experience required
  • Telemetry experience required
  • BLS – American Heart Association only
  • NIHSS certification required

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS – American Heart Association only (preferred; noted as required in skills listing)
