Highway Maintenance OperatorThe Highway Maintenance Operator provides skilled, semi-skilled and manual labor in the maintenance, reconstruction, building and repair of County highways, bridges, parks, fairgrounds, courthouse and all county properties. Most work is performed outside, often in hazardous and inclement weather. Work includes weekend, nights, holidays as required by weather and maintenance conditions. Most work is performed independent of technical supervision. Maintains and repairs highways and bridges in both rural and suburban areas. Participates in improvement projects to highways and all county owned properties and buildings. Performs maintenance and diagnostics of vehicles, equipment and performs minor repairs. Also subject to 24/7 call out availability for all types of highway maintenance issues. This position is subject to DOT drug and alcohol testing under 49 CFR Part 382 and 49 CFR Part 40. This is a safety-sensitive position.
