Juvenile Probation Counselor I or II DOQSALARY: I = $5,261.00/month or II - $5884.00 - Plus Excellent Benefits CLOSING: Open Until Filled - First review August 28, 2026 (reviewed weekly thereafter)DEPARTMENT: Community Justice - Juvenile DivisionDescription:Responsible for providing supervision to youth in the community who have been placed on Formal and Informal Court Probation; monitoring youth and families for compliance with Formal Accountability Agreements or Formal Court Judgment and Dispositions; preparation of casework, including, case plans; assess referral information in consultation with Deputy District Attorney; conduct interviews with youth and families; make an investigation of youth referred to juvenile division and report thereon to the court; be present in court representing the interest of the youth when the case is heard; furnish such information and assistance as is needed by the court including taking charge of a youth before and after a hearing as may be necessary and/or directed by the court.Requirements:Must be at least 21 years of ageValid driver's licensePhysically able to transport youth at all hours of the day or nightExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExperience using computersAbility to work flexible hours as neededAbility to satisfactorily pass a comprehensive background check which shows no criminal history which could directly impact ability to perform jobMust successfully pass a pre-employment drug test for this safety sensitive positionKnowledge of local community resources, especially community, judicial and law enforcement leadersPC I Requirements: AA degree in Criminal Justice or Human ServicesMinimum of 2 years experience providing direct services to children/adolescents and families.4 years of experience providing direct services to children/adolescents and families may substitute for the AA degree requirement.Must obtain basic certification by the Oregon Juvenile Department Directors Association within 12 months of hire.PC II Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice or Human ServiceMinimum of 2 years of experience as a Probation Counselor, including basic and intermediate certification by the Oregon Juvenile Department Directors Association.Preferred QualificationsBilingual - (Spanish)CADC I, II, or IIIUse of Umatilla County application is MANDATORY and must be submitted via our online portal at Anyone who qualifies for Veterans' Preference in Public Employment provided for in OAR 839-006-0435; please include proper certification (OAR 839-006-0465) with your application.
