SUBSTITUTE BUS DRIVER

School Bus Driver

Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade Ability: Drive a school bus and other transportation equipment safely and efficiently, exercising sound judgment and extreme caution; maintain proper and positive control of student behavior on a school bus; keep records and prepare reports; understand and follow oral and written directions; be courteous, neat and clean at all times. Knowledge: Safe driving and defensive driving practices and techniques; California Motor Vehicle Code and Education Code applicable to the operation of school buses and pupil transportation; effective communication skills; pupil management skills.

REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS: MUST BE A CURRENT CALIFORNIA STATE CERTIFIED SCHOOL BUS DRIVER OR MUST HAVE COMPLETED THE CALIFORNIA SCHOOL BUS DRIVER'S TRAINING PROGRAM If you are not a current California State Certified School Bus Driver, please email Salli Terrones to inquire about taking the next School Bus Driver Original Training Program. MUST POSSESS THE FOLLOWING CURRENT CREDENTIALS AND ATTACH ALL CREDENTIALS TO YOUR APPLICATION: California Commercial Driver License – Class A or Class B (with P and S endorsements) California Special Driver Certificate – Valid for School Bus Operation. Must not have Restrictions 2, 3, 4, and 5. If Restriction 6 is indicated, one must attach First Aid/CPR card from an approved provider list. Medical Examiners Certificate – DOT Physical Driver Record (K4) DMV First Aid/CPR Certificate
