TOOL AND DIE MAKER

Location: Plant 2 Central 2408 Forbes Rd, Gastonia, NC 28056, United States Overview Position Overview The Tool and Die Maker is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and fabricating stamping tools, dies, and related components. This role ensures that all parts produced meet IFAB Corp. and customer standards, while supporting production efficiency, safety, and quality. Responsibilities Tool Maintenance & Repair — Collaborate with production teams to ensure parts meet dimension tolerances and quality standards. Repair and fabricate stamp tooling, including punches, dies, and assemblies. Perform preventive maintenance and accurately complete maintenance sheets. Change over tooling and remove punches for sharpening or replacement. Troubleshoot and adjust tooling to achieve proper part quality. Participate in new tooling try-outs or engineering changes to ensure safety and process accuracy. Recommend tooling repairs or outsourcing when necessary. Organization & Support — Maintain spare and change-over tooling for efficient accessibility. Keep the tool room and work areas clean, organized, and safe. Notify supervisors of any issues or operational concerns. Ensure availability and proper use of hand tools and equipment for tooling repairs. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education & Experience — High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in CNC operation highly preferred. Minimum of 2 years of tool and die experience. Knowledge of stamping tools (progressive and transfer), press operation, and feeder systems. Familiarity with press safety, feed speed, and machining processes. Journeyman card or apprenticeship certificate preferred. Technical Skills Proficient in machining components to specified dimensions. Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and technical drawings. Strong mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units; familiarity with fractions, decimals, probability, and statistics preferred. Problem-solving skills to handle complex tooling situations using practical judgment. Physical Requirements Regularly stand, walk, sit, stoop, squat, reach, grasp, push, and pull using arms and legs. Lift/move up to 10 lbs regularly, up to 25 lbs frequently, and up to 50 lbs occasionally. Specific vision abilities required, including focus adjustment. Moderate noise levels and air quality typical of a metal fabrication environment. Exposure to hydraulic oils, machinery, and various metal components.
