Job Title: Registered Nurse II - Medical Telemetry Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Clinician must take and pass a dysrhythmia exam within two attempts prior to signing the contract. If the clinician fails to score 80% in two attempts, then they will be disqualified for 6 months. Candidates may not be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facility within the past year. Minimum of 1 year in MedSurg; preferred candidates will have telemetry experience. Must be willing to care for both Medical Surgical and Progressive Care Unit patients. Description: The unit consists of 30 beds with three 10-bed units. Staff-to-patient ratios are 1:5-6. Common diagnoses and types of patients include surgical cases such as total hip and knee replacements, small bowel resections, hysterectomies, and exploratory laparotomies. Medical cases may include MRSA, C-diff infections, suicide attempts, drug or alcohol withdrawal, COPD, pneumonia, and COVID. Telemetry experience is essential, particularly in reading and interpreting telemetry strips. RNs will be required to manage some aspects of patient care without assistance from nurse aides. Stable cases involving CPAP or BiPAP treatment are part of the nursing duties. The unit operates with remote monitor technicians, but RNs must also read telemetry strips. Shifts are typically 12 hours long, with every other weekend required. Holidays will be rotated fairly among staff. There may be a standby requirement during low census periods, with rotation among staff. RNs may be required to float to other units, including a Multi-Care Unit and a Pediatric Unit. Scrub color is flexible, excluding camouflage. Nurses must be willing to precept nursing students. The charting system used is Cerner.
