About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Obstetrics Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: - Comfortable with neonatal resuscitation and NRP - Comfortable with labor patients and postpartum patients - Comfortable taking care of stable newborn patients - Experience in a Labor and Delivery/Recovery/Postpartum setting - Ability to titrate drips such as oxytocin, insulin, and magnesium Description: Candidates must clock in and out at the facility. The unit has 8 labor and delivery beds, 1 OR suite for C-sections, and 12 postpartum beds. The average number of births per month is between 100 and 120. The unit follows established guidelines for nurse-patient ratios. Common diagnoses include pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, postpartum hemorrhage, and newborn respiratory distress. Nurses are not responsible for circulating in the OR or recovering patients after general anesthesia. Charge nurses may take assignments, but travel nurses are generally not in charge. Nurse aides and surgical techs are available on the unit. Anesthesia is available on-site 24/7. Respiratory therapy equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, and vents are available and primarily used for newborns. Telemetry is managed by dedicated technicians on another unit, and nurses are not required to read strips. Self-scheduling is allowed, and weekend requirements include working every 3rd Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. There are no call or standby requirements. There may be a need to float to other units as a sitter.
