EC1011 Quality Inspector

Job Description Performs quality checks on sampling of raw materials, various stages of manufacturing, and after product completion using laboratory-testing equipment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Obtains samples from raw materials, evaluates for adherence to company standards of quality and appearance using laboratory instruments. Obtains random samples from various stages of production and checks with laboratory instruments that the samples meet company quality standards and customer’s standards. Obtains random samples from finished production and checks with laboratory instruments that the samples meet company quality standards and customer’s standards. Accumulates scrap, keeps up with scrap inventory, and prepares necessary reporting of scrap. Works closely with Quality Assurance Manager to establish proper quality standards. Keeps work area clean and orderly and conducts all work in a safe manner. Samples parts using statistical analysis techniques. May contact customers to clarify or acquire disposition on product. May perform other duties as requested. May participate in project teams as requested. Organization Relationship Reports to Division Manager, Plant Manager, Production Supervisor, and EC1011. Education / Experience Competency in quality control standards and equipment. Skills and Knowledge Language: Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; present information effectively in one-on-one and small group settings. Basic Math: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide; determine quantities. Physical Demands Frequent standing, sitting, walking, moving; occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Medium heavy lifting up to 50 lbs; frequent lifting of objects up to 25 lbs. Vision: Close, distance, peripheral, depth perception; adjust focus. Repeated hand action: Firm grasping with grip strength of 45-60 lbs. Work Environment Frequent work near and/or with moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
