Sr. Completion Engineer

Role The ECP Permian Senior Completion Engineer will work with the Drilling and Completion team, leveraging existing technical expertise in unconventional completions to support daily operations, drive operational excellence, and contribute to workflow standardization and knowledge‑sharing initiatives across the organization. Additionally, the Sr. completion engineer will monitor JV’s operations and provide technical feedback and suggestions to the D&C Manager. The position is based in Houston, Texas, and reports directly to the ECP Permian Drilling & Completions Manager. Key Responsibilities Leads internal well design reviews and risk assessments for Midland and Delaware assets. Provides full‑time engineering support; reviews daily morning reports, facilitates data error correction and coding, and is primarily responsible for well file population and management for assigned wells. Provides technical support on daily operations and is the primary contact for completion‑related issues. Monitors project operational performance against established goals and objectives and identifies and recommends/executive on opportunities for continuous improvement. Provides internal and external benchmarking and end‑of‑well reports, and coordinates and communicates with the end‑of‑well reviews. Monitors capital tracking and forecast updates for JV operations, identifying cost variances and supporting operational and business decision‑making. Coordinates with operator teams to support operational follow‑up, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives. Reviews AFE cost estimates, operational cost performance, and forecast updates for assigned JV operations. Provide expertise for planning, execution, and look‑back analysis for wells completed. Work effectively and interact with the multidisciplinary teams. Evaluate and propose technologies, supporting technical decision‑making focused on long‑term development plans. Produce high‑quality technical documentation, workflows, and standards to support capability development across Ecopetrol Permian. Builds expertise in Permian well construction activities while executing the Knowledge Transfer (KT) plan and key learning milestones, ensuring effective documentation and knowledge sharing to drive successful KT program development. Engages in regular sessions with ECP Permian departments to discuss focus areas, processes, best practices, operations, and associated documentation. Qualifications BS degree in Petroleum Engineering or associated subject(s). Minimum of 10 years in drilling & completions engineering experience. Minimum of 5 years in completions engineering experience. Experience overseeing operations on multiple rig lines and frac spreads. Experience with OpenWells and landmark engineering tools. Experience with stimulation software design (desirable). Strong communication and effective team skills within multi‑disciplinary organizations. Proficient in the English language (written and oral); fluency in the Spanish language is desirable. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Power BI. Candidate Profile Mid‑level, high‑performing and/or high‑potential employee (10 – 15 years of experience). Flexibility to travel to the field as required, as well as between Colombia and Texas.
