The Level II RN provides competent, evidence-based care under the Nurse Manager, with potential charge nurse, preceptor, and committee responsibilities. This assignment requires stepping into a high-acuity unit with neuro-focused needs and complex monitoring. Key Highlights

Responsibilities - Deliver Level II RN care in a high-acuity unit with neuro/neurosurgery and stroke patients; perform comprehensive neuro assessments (Q1 checks) and manage neuromonitoring needs. - Provide telemetry-enabled patient monitoring, including arterial lines, external drains/drips (e.g., 3% NS, cardene), EVDs, lumbar drains, subdural drains, VP shunts, and post-surgical neuro interventions. - Assume expanded role as assigned (possible charge nurse, preceptor, or committee member) while maintaining established standards of practice and patient safety. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans; respond to changes in patient condition; participate in rounds and family education as appropriate. - Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic medical record; ensure timely communication of critical findings and orders to the team. - Adhere to institutional policies, participate in on-call or after-hours coverage as needed, and ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. Requirements

• Licensure: Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
• Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) required; NIHSS required;

ACLS strongly preferred - Experience: Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience; must have stepdown/PCU experience - Specialty requirements: Must have stepdown/PCU experience with high-acuity stroke and neurosurgery experience; telemetry experience required - Neuro-specific competencies: Experience with Q1 neuro checks, EVDs, lumbar drains, sub-dural drains, 3% NS and cardene drips, arterial lines, carotid endarterectomy, aneurysm clip/coils, DBS insertion (Deep Brain Stimulator), VP shunts, and management of seizures - Other: Ability to work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment; willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts including weekends and holidays; on-call/callback as required by unit needs Benefits and Support
