General Sales Manager

Role Description The General Sales Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Knoxville, TN, responsible for leading the sales team and overseeing daily dealership sales operations. This role includes setting sales targets, monitoring performance, coaching and mentoring sales staff, and ensuring an exceptional customer experience from initial contact through delivery. The General Sales Manager collaborates with finance, service, and marketing teams to optimize inventory, pricing, and promotions, and to support overall dealership profitability. Daily responsibilities also include reviewing sales reports, managing lead follow-up processes, maintaining compliance with dealership policies, and representing the dealership in community and brand-related activities. Qualifications Demonstrated experience in automotive sales management, including leading sales teams and achieving volume and profitability goals. Strong skills in customer relationship management, negotiation, and closing techniques within a retail automotive environment. Ability to analyze sales metrics, market trends, and inventory data to inform pricing, forecasting, and strategic decisions. Proficiency with dealership CRM systems, DMS tools, and basic office software (e.g., spreadsheets, presentations, email). Effective leadership and people management skills, including coaching, performance feedback, and conflict resolution. Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across sales, finance, service, and administrative teams. High level of integrity and commitment to ethical, customer-focused business practices and regulatory compliance. Prior experience in a franchised dealership environment and familiarity with multiple OEM brands is highly beneficial.
