Machine Operator

• Location: Sandston, VA
• Job Type: Full-Time, Hourly, Temp-to-hire
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 2nd Shift | 3:00 PM–11:00 PM
• Pay: $16.00–$18.00 per hour, based on experience

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team in Sandston, VA. The ideal candidate will have prior manufacturing experience operating machinery and be comfortable with machine setup, quality inspections, troubleshooting, and maintaining a safe and efficient production environment.

Experience in the corrugated or packaging industry is preferred, but candidates with strong machine operating experience in other manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, clean, and monitor folding and gluing machinery.

• Perform accurate and efficient machine setups according to production specifications.

• Operate equipment safely and efficiently while maintaining production standards.

• Minimize material and glue waste.

• Inspect finished products throughout production to identify defects, including misprints, loose liners, and mis-slotted boxes.

• Learn and operate a variety of box styles and product configurations.

• Assist with training employees in related production positions.

• Complete production, quality, safety, and machine operation reports accurately and on time.

• Identify equipment issues and submit maintenance work orders as needed.

• Assist with troubleshooting and basic mechanical setup or repairs.

• Follow the production schedule and communicate any issues that may impact productivity or deadlines.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating machinery in a manufacturing environment is required.

• Corrugated or packaging industry experience is preferred.

• Ability to learn and assist with mechanical machine setups.

• Ability to troubleshoot equipment issues and assist with necessary repairs.

• Ability to read and follow production instructions and specifications.

• Basic to intermediate computer skills.

• Strong math and problem-solving skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• High school diploma or GED required.

Physical & Work Environment

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.

• Frequently use hands for handling, operating, and manipulating materials and equipment.

• Ability to reach, bend, and perform other physical tasks associated with manufacturing production.

• Must have sufficient vision to inspect products and operate machinery safely.

• Work is performed in a facility that is not climate controlled and may experience temperatures ranging from approximately 30&degree;F to 110&degree;F.
