Role Summary:

The Automation Engineer will design, develop, and implement continuous automation solutions across manufacturing operations. Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing Services, this role focuses on integrating robotics, PLCs, and SCADA systems to optimize production efficiency, reduce operating costs, and maintain high product quality standards.

Responsibilities:

• Design, program, and deploy custom automation solutions including PLC systems, industrial robotics, and SCADA monitoring networks.
• Perform feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to validate project ROI prior to implementation.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and optimize both existing production machinery and newly installed automated systems.
• Create technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and user instruction manuals.
• Provide technical guidance and training to plant production personnel and line operators.
• Ensure all implemented systems conform strictly to safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with internal cross-functional engineering teams and external equipment vendors.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering field (or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience).
• 5+ years of automation engineering experience within an active manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated ability to program equipment utilizing PLC code and CNC/G-Code languages (EIA/ISO).
• Experience working with CAD software for layout and design verification.
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting and supporting automated equipment on the manufacturing floor.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Direct experience programming Fanuc (Karel/Pascal) or ABB (Rapid) industrial robotics.
• Familiarity with computer/software languages used for system integration and system communication.
• Exposure to modern manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing.
