About the Role
The Company is seeking a Head of Chemistry to spearhead the strategic direction and team leadership within its chemistry organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing and leading an experimental chemistry function that encompasses a wide range of areas, including organic and inorganic chemistry, molecules and nanoparticles, discovery and process chemistry, and synthetic and analytical methods. This role is pivotal in driving the company's impact across its discovery and platform efforts, with a focus on addressing significant global challenges. The Head of Chemistry will also be instrumental in cultivating a culture of scientific excellence and rigor, as well as scaling the chemistry team to meet the demands of the company's scientific superintelligence development. Applicants for the Head of Chemistry position at the company should hold a Ph.D. in chemistry or a related discipline, with a minimum of 12 years' experience in chemistry research. The role requires a proven track record in building and leading high-performing chemistry teams, deep expertise in molecular chemistry, and experience in various chemistry subfields. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in defining and prioritizing chemistry strategy, a passion for cross-functional collaboration, and a history of translating scientific discoveries into commercializable solutions. Exceptional communication skills, the ability to build inclusive team cultures, and a background in fast-paced, technology-driven environments are also essential. Experience in AI-enabled discovery environments, automated chemistry platforms, and a broad understanding of molecular design principles are considered advantageous.
