Electronic Learning Development Senior Specialist Department: Arts and Sciences | Distance Education Position Type: Regular Location: University Hall (0339) Scheduled Hours: 40 Shift: First Shift Pay Range: $58,700 - $77,200 Responsibilities The Electronic Learning Development Senior Specialist contributes to the mission of the Office of Distance Education in the College of Arts and Sciences by managing teaching toolsets available to faculty, evaluating and selecting high‑quality software, and supporting instructional technology needs. Key duties include: Evaluate and recommend preferred products and support campus standards and best‑of‑breed selections. Track inventory, conduct meeting facilitation, and run a community of practice to assess instructional needs. Coordinate software procurement, facilitate adoption discussions, and manage legal, security, privacy, and accessibility reviews. Serve as point of contact for enterprise toolset testing, installation, and support with OTDI and Carmen. Manage changes in the college’s LMS, including communication, resource development, training, integration, and pilot review. Maintain records of approved tools, review suitability, and collaborate with IT Governance, Risk Management, Accessibility, and Privacy teams. Create resources and training opportunities for faculty on content and activity development. Act as the Office of Distance Education’s Accessibility Designee, reviewing tools, reporting updates, and advising on accessibility. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree and four years of relevant experience. Familiarity with educational principles, distance education, and technology‑enabled teaching. Experience with Canvas LMS and Learning Tools Interoperability (LTIs). Knowledge of data security, privacy, access, and ownership in higher education. Understanding of instructional design frameworks and AI transformations in education. Strong collaboration, organizational, and multi‑project management skills. Excellent documentation and communication skills. Knowledge of WCAG, Title II, and Section 508. Desired: Master’s degree. Experience quick testing for accessibility using VPAT and HECVAT. Familiarity with OSU Workday procurement protocol. Understanding of vendor pricing strategies and usage tracking. Experience in compliance guidance in writing and presentation.
