Job Description

We are seeking a motivated TELLER who is ready to grow with our organization.

As a Teller, you will be an important part of the member experience, providing prompt, professional service while handling a variety of financial transactions. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, has strong attention to detail, and is comfortable identifying opportunities to connect members with additional Credit Union products and services.

Position Overview

Responsible for providing a variety of paying and receiving functions, including:

• Processing deposits

• Processing withdrawals

• Accepting loan payments

• Issuing cashier’s checks

• Issuing money orders

• Processing cash advances

• Balancing daily transactions and verifying cash totals

• Answering incoming calls from members

• Responding to inquiries and questions

• Handling complaints and troubleshooting problems

• Providing information and directing members to the appropriate department when needed

• Ensuring members are promptly and professionally served

• Actively cross selling Credit Union products and services

Key Responsibilities

• Receive and process member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, and loan payments

• Sell money orders and cashier’s checks to members

• Transfer funds between member accounts as directed

• Cross sell Credit Union products and services

• Welcome members and provide routine information about Credit Union services

• Direct members to the appropriate department for specific information and service

• Balance cash drawer and daily transactions

• Perform miscellaneous administrative tasks including typing, filing, scanning, computer input, and answering the telephone

• Perform other duties as assigned

Performance Expectations

The successful Teller will ensure:

• Teller functions are performed efficiently, effectively, and accurately in accordance with established policies, standards, and security procedures

• Monies are balanced and discrepancies are promptly resolved

• A balancing record that meets established standards is maintained

• Strong business relationships are built with members

• Member questions and concerns are resolved courteously and promptly

• Positive working relationships and coordination exist with area personnel and management

• Assistance is provided to other Tellers and staff as needed

• Supervisors are appropriately informed of area activities

• Required reports and records are accurate, complete, and timely

• The Credit Union’s professional reputation is maintained and conveyed

Qualifications

Experience:  Six plus months of similar or related experience

• High school education or equivalent

• Knowledge of Teller policies and procedures

• Basic understanding of Credit Union operations

Skills and Abilities:

• Good communication and cross selling skills

• Professional appearance, dress, and attitude

• Good math skills

• Ability to operate related computer applications and business equipment, including adding machine, typewriter, copy machine, coin and money counting machines, and telephone

• Good typing skills

Compensation & Benefits: $19.25-20.25/hr
