Operating Room AssistantJoin the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center's Surgical Services team as an Operating Room Assistant. In this role, you will transport patients, prepare operating rooms, clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment, maintain supplies, and provide essential perioperative support to the surgical team.This role is ideal for a dependable, team-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes pride in supporting patients and clinical teams, and is committed to maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient surgical environment.SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday | 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. | No WeekendsKey Responsibilities:• Transport patients safely to and from the Operating Room while verifying patient identification and following established protocols.• Prepare operating rooms by cleaning equipment, making beds, and ensuring rooms are ready for the next surgical procedure.• Clean, inspect, reassemble, and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment following established policies and infection prevention standards.• Operate sterilization equipment and perform biological and chemical monitoring while maintaining accurate documentation.• Restock surgical supplies, monitor inventory levels, and maintain organized storage areas.• Follow Standard Precautions and properly use personal protective equipment (PPE) to promote a safe surgical environment.• Identify and report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, and environmental hazards.• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, Sterile Processing, and Surgical Services staff to support efficient operating room workflow.• Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications:• High school diploma or GED, required.• One (1) year of Operating Room Assistant or related healthcare experience preferred.• Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must be obtained during the probationary period.• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment.• Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills required.• Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.Additional Information:All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.Compensation:• Pay Range: $17.00 - $21.39 per hour.• Shift, Weekend, and Holiday Differential Pay Where Applicable.• Comprehensive Benefits Package for Full Time, Part Time, and PRN Staff Members.Career Growth and Advancement Opportunities within a high-performing Surgical Services Team committed to quality, safety, and excellence in patient care.
