Medical ICU Unit Information

Unit Notes: Primarily PCU with float to ICU. Candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity within the past year. Primary to St Joseph Medical Center, but if needed, travelers will be required to float throughout Region Two: St. Clare Hospital Lakewood, WA; St. Elizabeth Hospital Enumclaw, WA; St Joseph Medical Center Tacoma, WA. Rate differential when floated outside of SJMC. Auto deducts the 1.75 WA state tax - you are able to re-add that back in.

Unit Medical ICU Manager Name: Greg Bishoff

# beds: 82 Critical care (48 ICU, 34 PCU) 3 separate floors

Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS

Ratios: ICU 1:1, 1:2, PCU 1:3

EMR: EPIC

Charge Nurse: Yes 1/floor

Nurse Aides: 2/floor

Weekend Requirement: Days - Saturday and Sunday. Nights - Friday and Saturday. Every other weekend.

Holidays: Yes, rotate with perm staff.

Scrub Color: No requirements

Tele/Monitor Techs: Only in PCU

Drips: All ICU level gtts

Vents: Yes

Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Dayshift on site, nights available via virtual ICU and also has a ARNP for procedures in house overnight.

Surgery residents etc.: IV Team yes

RT: 24/7 yes

Pharmacy: 24/7 yes

Shifts: 7a-7p. 7p-7a

Floating: Float eligible between all ICU's and PCU. Planning on 1 week with an educator at max, minimum of 2 shifts.

Common diagnosis / Types of patients: All critical care dx

Additional Notes: No Vents in PCU. PCU drips to include cardizem, nitro, insulin, heparin. No Pressors. Do not require travelers to take IABP or CRRT unless they have that experience. Looking for strong Med Surg RN's. All travelers are required to have 2 years of experience in their specialty.
