Job Description Summary The System Requirements Engineer (SMTS) defines, analyzes, and verifies system and subsystem requirements to shape overall system design. The role applies systems engineering methods within a model‑based systems engineering (MBSE) and/or digital engineering framework. Responsibilities include defining mission needs, use cases, functional system models, requirement trees, trade analyses, simulation‑based performance verification, test strategy and design, and requirements management through the product life‑cycle. Duties/Responsibilities Coordinate, schedule, and participate in requirements assessments. Assist in strategic technical planning, project management, performance engineering, risk management, and interface design. Conduct requirements engineering, scheduling, reliability, development, and evaluation, including maintainability and training analysis. Support the analysis and allocation of requirements. Capture and translate mission and customer requirements into systems/capability requirements and solutions. Lead assessment efforts in both formal and informal evaluations and analysis. Analyze assessment results and recommend improvements or changes. Ensure assessment results and recommendations are incorporated into the documentation. Drive solutions to complex problems with limited direction, contributing to task planning, test development, and adapting to requirement changes. Lead small teams, aligning them toward program goals and building team trust. Provide insight and suggest design modifications based on analysis outcomes. Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies. Mentor less experienced engineers with constructive feedback. Skills/Abilities Highly organized with a system‑level perspective. Strong oral and written communication skills. Practical experience with the systems engineering process. Familiarity with MBSE and/or digital engineering tools and methods. Proficiency with modeling/simulation, computer coding languages, SysML, STPA, DOORS, and other analysis tools. Knowledge of GN&C, avionics architectures, fault tolerance, cyber‑security, comms/encryption, or related technologies, as defined by the role. Education Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related field is required. A master’s degree is preferred. Experience 5‑10 years of experience in systems engineering with an emphasis on requirements engineering. Job Location Cambridge, Massachusetts 02139‑3563 Compensation US base salary range: $82,300.00 – $220,000.00. Salary is determined by role, level, and location and reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all U.S. locations.
