Schedule: Monday through Friday, standard business hours, with extended hours during month end, year end, and audit periods Classification: Full time, exempt Reports To: Accounting leadership About the Role Our client, a growing manufacturer in the North Dallas area, is hiring a Cost Accountant to own product costing and inventory accounting while supporting the monthly close. The role is heavily weighted toward cost accounting, with the balance spent on general accounting and close activities. The right candidate has lived in a plant environment, understands how material, labor, and overhead move through a manufacturing operation, and is comfortable walking the floor and partnering directly with production and operations teams. What You Will Own Cost Accounting (majority of the role) Produce monthly cost and margin reporting covering revenue, cost of sales, productivity, and profitability Investigate cost variances, identify root causes, and communicate findings to leadership Maintain Bills of Materials including labor, overhead, and burden rates Develop overhead absorption rates and cost allocation methodologies Reconcile WIP and inventory from perpetual systems to the general ledger Run the cycle count program including variance research and resolution Support budgeting, forecasting, cost modeling, pricing analysis, and cost reduction initiatives General Accounting (balance of the role) Prepare and post month end journal entries tied to inventory, accruals, and manufacturing costs Complete general ledger reconciliations and supporting analysis Support month end and year end close and financial statement preparation under US GAAP Prepare schedules and respond to inquiries during external audits Non Negotiable Requirements Candidates must meet all of the following to be considered. 3 to 5 years minimum of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. Candidates without hands on manufacturing cost experience will not be considered regardless of overall accounting tenure. 3 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience overall Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a US accredited institution Demonstrated experience applying US GAAP in a domestic manufacturing or industrial operation Fluent, professional level English communication, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly present financial information to non financial stakeholders including operations and production leadership Fully onsite in North Dallas five days per week, every week. ERP experience required, ideally with a mid market manufacturing ERP Technical Skill Set Standard costing and variance analysis Inventory valuation and WIP reconciliation Cost allocation and overhead analysis Manufacturing focused budgeting and forecasting Advanced Excel including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis Preferred Industrial or manufacturing background Experience driving cost reduction or process improvement initiatives Exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, or operational efficiency programs Advanced ERP reporting and data analytics Split between office and production floor with regular presence in warehouse and production areas Prolonged periods of both sitting at a computer and standing among warehouse staff Occasional lifting up to 15 pounds Equal Opportunity Employer This position is open to all qualified applicants.
