Registered Nurse IV - Associate Chief Nurse (ACN) - Ambulatory Care

The Registered Nurse IV - Associate Chief Nurse (ACN) - Ambulatory Care executes leadership that is characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for population groups or integrated programs that cross services and/or discipline lines and, influence the organizational healthcare mission. The Associate Chief Nurse of Ambulatory Care provides senior leadership and oversight of daily clinical and administrative operations within nursing at VAWNYHS in Dialysis, Specialty Clinics (medical and surgical specialty care and Employee Health RNs), and Primary Care Clinics in Buffalo, Batavia, Niagara Falls and Olean staff-model community based clinics (CBOCs), and provides nursing leadership support and guidance to five contract CBOC locations aligned with VAWNYHS. In addition, the incumbent also provides leadership of the facility Health Promotion Disease Prevention Coordinator, and operational oversight of the facility Vaccine team and the RN Wound Care team that provides outpatient and inpatient wound/skin care. The incumbent will function as an advisor, administrator, educator, consultant, and mentor who possesses a wide range of experience and leadership ability. He/she will provide senior leadership and oversight for daily clinical and administrative operations within nursing as directed by the Associate Director for Patient Care Services (ADPCS), and support the integration and collaboration of nursing with other professional disciplines and functional areas in the mutual achievement of patient-centered and organizational goals. The ACN will champion a High Reliability Organization (HRO) with a culture of safety founded on a systems approach to developing evidence-based health care solutions based on prevention, not punishment, with collective mindfulness. The incumbent will collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, including other program and service leaders at the facility and network. He/she will work closely to establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of Veteran Affairs (VA) staff nationwide, and relates effectively with customers, families, and the community as well as program and service leaders at the local and network levels. He/she will assist the ADPCS with healthcare operations, the functions and activities expected of them, and contribute ideas and recommendations for the establishment of standards of care, policies, and objectives for the enhancement of nursing.
