Job Description The final applicant selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis prior to the appointment to test for illegal drug use. DUTIES: Performs skilled practical nursing procedures or treatments (e.g. administers oxygen; conducts blood glucose testing; applies sterile dressing; inserts catheters; gives enemas and douches; collects specimens). Assists physicians with client and new employee physical exams, treatments, lab tests and assists in emergencies (first aid, cardio‑pulmonary resuscitation, restraining clients). Conducts neurological and circulation assessments; administers medication orally, rectally or via injection; provides medication instructions. Maintains medication records, charts client records, prepares and counts medication, maintains medication stock and medical equipment and supplies. Provides general nursing and direct care (takes vital signs; assists with grooming, hygiene, bathing or daily living activities; administers topical ointments and solutions, eye, ear, or nose drops; applies bandages and warm/cold compresses; escorts clients and assists with recreational activities). Provides assistance to lower‑level direct care staff in providing general unskilled nursing care, attends and participates in meetings. Observes, documents and reports client conditions and prepares related reports and records. Performs clerical tasks as required to record client data. QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SPECIAL EXPERIENCE: Knowledge of skilled licensed practical nursing procedures; pharmacology; client care; first aid; general hospital practices and procedures; agency, institutional, hospital or clinic practices and procedures. Skill in use of medical equipment (respirator, sterilizer, oxygen equipment, blood pressure cuff) and hypodermics. Ability to understand practical field of study; deal with abstract variables; recognize unusual or threatening conditions and take appropriate emergency action; develop good rapport with patients and clients; understand manuals and verbal instructions associated with practical nursing. Qualifications License to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse issued by Ohio Board of Nursing pursuant to Section 4723 Ohio Revised Code and proof of completion of an approved course in medication administration. Note: Licensed Practical Nurses who administer dialysis treatment must possess Certification in IV Therapy pursuant to Section 4723.17 Ohio Revised Code. Cambridge Developmental Center is located in the Southeast region of Ohio and is home to adults with developmental disabilities. What you’ll do as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Cambridge Developmental Center Medication and treatment administration. Checking residents per direct care staff concerns and post incident. Completing documentation – i.e. 24‑hour report, nursing notes, medication administration record and physician orders. Acts as a liaison with physicians by communicating medical concerns of residents and informing team members of treatment recommendations. Attends meetings – medication reviews, admission/discharge and special team meetings. Assists with physical exams of individuals. Preparing and filing medical related documents. 60 cent shift differential for all hours worked on 2nd or 3rd shift. Pay increase after 180 days. Every other weekend off.
