Staff Physician-Fri/Sat-Part-Time

Staff PhysicianResponsible for the delivery of patient-centered, team-based care that falls within the allowable scope of practice. This includes working collaboratively with mid-level providers, registered nurses and medical assistants to provide physical and psychosocial assessments, diagnosis and management of health and illness needs. The primary responsibility of the Staff Physician is direct patient care, both acute and chronic. Convey empathic behavior and communication with patients and encourage all members of the care team to do so as well.Deliver services to the patients' satisfaction as measured by the Press Ganey Patient Satisfaction Survey.Lead team in efforts to increase patient satisfaction survey completion rate.Collaborate with the medical management team to investigate, respond and improve processes related to patient grievances received from payers, social media, and comment boxes/We Care emails.Collaborate with the medical management team to improve workflows, cycle times and the overall patient experience.Access/UtilizationProvide primary medical care services in accordance with health center policies and board approved privileging.Provide coverage to the health center's urgent care schedules.Practice in an efficient and cost effective manner; appropriately order labs and tests.Provide on-call coverage for after-hours care in accordance with health center protocols.Lead the care team in problem solving to see late arriving patients and patients with urgent needs.Collaborate with the medical management team to maximize patient appointment accessSupervision of Clinical Staff/LeadershipAssist mid-level health care providers in the assessment and treatment of patients as necessary. If appropriate, assume responsibility for the clinical situation.Supervision of nursing staff in direct patient care, including the procurement of lab specimens and administration of injectable medications.Assume leadership role with care team. Promote positive interactions within the team and engages members to achieve quality, patient experience and access goals.Collaborate with the medical management team to develop support staff to their highest potential.Active participation in department and clinic-wide meetings/trainings.Attend in-services and conferences to continue professional growth and development.DocumentationComplete clear and defensible documentation of patient visits and/or telephone encounters.Appropriate and accurate code encounters.Close encounters in accordance with health center protocols.Provide medication and document queue coverage for colleagues in accordance with health center protocols.Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:Work collaboratively with people of all ages, social, and ethnic backgroundsWork independently and as part of a teamExcellent time management skills with the ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and meet deadlinesAble to work in a fast paced environmentExcellent oral and written communication; basic math skillsProficient in using computer and office equipmentAbility to convey a sense of confidence and trust to all patientsAbility to relate well to other health professionals and support staffAbility to carry out administrative and patient support services and consultative responsibilitiesAbility to maintain patient confidentialityMinimum Position Qualifications:Education: Doctor of Medicine Degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine DegreeLicense / Certification: Board certified primary care physician; valid and current California Medical license, DEA number and BLS certification; Active NPIPreferred Position Qualifications:Experience/Training: Two or more years of experience in a community health center; bilingual (English/Spanish)Additional Requirements:Must possess, or be able to obtain, all required licenses, certifications, and registrations needed for clinical practice and Medi-Cal billing in California.Physical and Personal requirements:Must have reliable transportationMust be available on Fridays and Saturdays and willing to work at other clinic sites as neededPart-Time Position (8–20 hours/week) Benefits available for employees working 20+ hours per week.
