Recreation Specialist – Tourism & Festivals | City of O'Fallon, MO

$25.98-$28.38/hr DOQ

Position Summary:
The City of O'Fallon is seeking a dynamic and creative Recreation Specialist – Tourism & Festivals to join our team! This position plays a key role in planning, organizing, and executing special events and festivals that attract visitors and enhance the quality of life for residents. • Plan, develop, and implement city festivals and tourism-related events, ensuring smooth execution and exceptional guest experiences.
• Recruit and coordinate vendors, entertainers, speakers, and service providers.
• Manage event logistics in collaboration with internal departments and volunteers.
• Serve as Manager on Duty for multi-day events.
• Prepare and monitor event budgets, contracts, and vendor applications.
• Supervise part-time staff and volunteers during event setup and execution.
• Coordinate food vendors, site layouts, and operational logistics for major events such as Heritage & Freedom Fest and Celebration of Lights .
• Oversee entertainment bookings and programming for city events.
• Maintain accurate records, reports, and evaluations for all events.

• Knowledge of event and festival management principles.
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to supervise staff and volunteers effectively.
• Proficiency in budgeting, contract management, and modern office software.
• Ability to work in both office and outdoor environments, including evenings and weekends as needed.

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Event Management, Hospitality, Tourism, or related field.
• At least one year of experience in event planning or a similar role.
• Valid Missouri driver's license or ability to obtain one.
