Our organization is in search of a full-time Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) - Certified Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to become a valuable member of our team. As part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the CRNA provides high-quality, cost-effective advanced care to patients, operating within the privileges granted by the credentialing committee. This role involves being accountable for the health outcomes of a designated patient population and collaborating with supervising anesthesiologists in areas of clinical expertise that fall within the CRNA's scope of practice and licensure. A faculty appointment is required to maintain clinical privileges at our health system.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-anesthetic evaluations, including physical assessments and patient interviews, and document findings. Analyze patients' medical histories to anticipate anesthesia responses.

• Create individualized anesthesia care plans.

• Select, order, or administer pre-anesthetic medications, anesthetics, fluids, or blood products as required.

• Prepare and administer prescribed solutions, including local, intravenous, spinal, or other anesthetics, following established protocols.

• Choose, prepare, and utilize equipment, monitors, supplies, or medications for anesthesia administration. Ensure proper calibration and testing of anesthesia devices.

• Act in emergency situations by managing airways, administering emergency fluids or medications, or employing basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques.

• Conduct or assess diagnostic tests such as radiographs (x-rays) and electrocardiograms (EKGs).

• Prescribe post-anesthesia medications or treatments for patients.

• Administer post-anesthesia medications or fluids to support patients' cardiovascular health.

• Monitor and assess patients' responses following surgery or anesthesia, taking necessary corrective actions or seeking consultation if complications arise.

• Facilitate the discharge of patients to the hospital floor or Surgicenter as needed.

• Provide instruction to nurses, residents, interns, students, or other staff on anesthetic techniques, pain management, and emergency procedures.

• Engage in additional related tasks and participate in special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master's degree in nursing or a Doctorate of Nursing Practice is required.

• Current licensure as a registered professional nurse in the State of Illinois.

• Current licensure as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) in Illinois, or if awaiting initial certification, a temporary CRNA license.

• Graduation from a nurse anesthesia program accredited by the AANA Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessors.

• Current certification from the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists or recertification from the Council of Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists, or if pending initial certification, proof of graduation from an approved nurse anesthesia educational program.

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications

• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification is preferred.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salary: The previously established salary range for this role is between $240,800 and $293,238, accompanied by a sign-on bonus of $18,000.

The final salary will be determined based on a comprehensive evaluation of market data, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, as well as budget considerations. It is uncommon for an individual to receive an offer at or near the upper limit of the salary range for this position.
