Overview
The Principal, Investment Banking provides leadership in pitching and executing M&A and Strategic Advisory engagements, supports the Senior Managing Director in day-to-day team management, and ensures high-quality analysis and materials are delivered.
Key Responsibilities
- Understand and evaluate complex financial models.
- Perform complex financial analysis.
- Create high-impact presentation materials using PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and other relevant software programs.
- Work well as part of a team in a high stress environment.
- Develop good working relationships with peers and seniors in Capital Markets and the rest of the organization.
- Manage priorities while working on a number of high-priority opportunities simultaneously.
- A strong background in credit and corporate finance and the ability to apply that knowledge to IB projects.
- Serve as support to the Managing Directors and be capable of making internal and external IB presentations to support the efforts of the Managing Directors on the team.
- Interact independently with all important constituencies in the course of the execution of an M&A or Strategic Advisory assignment.
Supervisor Responsibilities
Direct day-to-day supervision of IB Associates and Analysts, providing timely, candid and constructive performance feedback; developing employees to their fullest potential and providing challenging opportunities to enhance employee career growth; identifying and developing appropriate talent to ensure adequate bench strength and succession planning; and recognizing and rewarding employees for accomplishments.
Qualifications and Experience
- 7-10 years of experience in M&A Investment Banking.
- Strong corporate finance and credit skills.
- Proven track record of success in working as part of a team to originate and close complex financial transactions.
- Proven ability to pitch, win and execute M&A engagements.
- Excellent presentation skills, both oral and written.
- Strong relationship building skills.
- The ability to interact effectively with senior executives inside and outside our organization.
- Expertise in one or more industries.
- BA/BS in Finance/Accounting/Economics (MBA strongly preferred).
- Securities Industry Essentials (SIE), Series 79 license, and Series 63 license required.

Compensation
Base salary reflects the range for this role across the US, varying by skill, experience, education, and location. The role also includes incentive compensation based on company, line of business, and individual performance.
