Room Service Attendant

Visit patients to obtain or discuss menu selections based upon dietary orders Enter or record daily patient meal selections and preferences for one or more patient units Use judgment with modified diets, food and menu knowledge, and request Diet Tech or Dietitian assistance when needed Edit patient menus as required Set up tray work stations, prepare and portion assigned foods, and assemble patient trays Deliver and serve meals, including handling special requests, snacks, and nourishments Provide customer service by phone or in person and resolve complaints effectively and efficiently Maintain food handling and sanitation standards to meet licensing agency requirements Interact with patients, families, food service staff, nursing staff, dietetic technicians, and dietitians Follow work routines, work quickly and correctly, and resolve minor problems with patient menus and trays Requirements Reading, writing, and mathematical skills One to two years of related experience in nutrition services Effective interpersonal communication skills Friendly customer service attitude Ability to follow instructions and safety guidelines for working with cleaning chemicals Ability to learn and work with business computer software and point-of-sale systems Ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests as required Demonstrated effective customer service skills High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge preferred Understanding of nutrition services, common modified diets, and portion measures preferred Additional health care nutrition services skills and knowledge preferred Bilingual skills preferred in some assignments Completion of post-offer occupational health physical assessment, drug screen, and background check required Minimum commitment of two shifts per month Every other weekend and holiday rotation required Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in nutrition services, including menu selection, food handling regulations, and customer service.
