Senior Power Systems Engineer

Location: Oakland, CA

Duration: 6 months

Lead design and analysis of medium- and high-voltage power systems

Drive power system studies for complex electrical networks

Oversee development of electrical system designs and layouts

Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and project teams

Provide technical leadership in protection and control systems

Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations

Support project lifecycle from design to commissioning

Guide teams on best practices in power system engineering

Coordinate with utilities, vendors, and external stakeholders

Contribute to reliability and performance improvement initiatives

Review and approve technical designs and documentation

Support innovation in energy systems and infrastructure

Perform load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and stability studies

Design substations, switchgear, transformers, and protection systems

Develop single-line diagrams, schematics, and grounding designs

Conduct protection coordination and relay setting calculations

Analyze system performance and recommend improvements

Ensure compliance with NEC, IEEE, IEC, ANSI, and NESC standards

Support arc flash studies and electrical safety assessments

Review vendor submittals and technical documentation

Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT) and commissioning

Provide on-site or remote technical support during project execution

Prepare engineering reports, calculations, and design packages

Strong expertise in power system engineering and analysis

Hands-on experience with ETAP, SKM, PSCAD, PowerWorld, or CYME

Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or Revit

Strong understanding of electrical equipment and systems

Knowledge of protection systems and relay coordination

Familiarity with electrical safety standards and compliance

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Experience with grounding and system design principles

Ability to interpret technical drawings and schematics

Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools for reporting

Strong communication and documentation skills

Ability to manage multiple technical tasks independently
