Job Description
The Segmentation Technician serves as a highly proficient and quality-focused producer of pre-operative surgical plans. This role centers on creating accurate 3D anatomical bone models and pre-operative plans for robotically assisted total hip and total knee replacement procedures using specialized software and a proprietary case management system. The technician contributes directly to team and department production targets by consistently delivering precise, compliant, and well-documented work that supports cutting edge technology in the medical device field.
Responsibilities

• Create new surgical cases using a proprietary case management system and ensure all required information is complete and accurate.
• Review CT scans to confirm they meet established surgical protocol and quality standards before proceeding with segmentation.
• Segment CT scans using specialized software to generate detailed 3D anatomical bone models for use in robotic surgery.
• Develop pre-operative surgical plans based on the digital bone models for robotically assisted total hip and total knee replacement procedures.
• Review CT segmentations and surgical plans to verify accuracy of anatomical landmark selection, implant sizing, and implant positioning.
• Upload completed pre-operative plans to field-based personnel in a timely and organized manner.
• Document all activities, including case creation, segmentation, and planning steps, according to prescribed methods and procedures.
• Follow written work instructions exactly to ensure consistent, high-quality output and compliance with internal standards.
• Maintain a strong focus on individual production efficiency to help the team and department meet overall production targets.
• Collaborate with team members in a close-knit environment and communicate effectively about case status, issues, and process improvements.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree or higher, preferably in a STEM-related field (strongly preferred).
• At least 2 years of work experience, ideally in fast-paced environments or computer-oriented roles.
• Strong computer skills, including comfort working with multiple software tools and digital workflows.
• Proficiency or demonstrated ability to learn design software such as Photoshop, CAD tools, and similar applications.
• Foundational knowledge of anatomy, with anatomy knowledge highly preferred for accurate segmentation and planning.
• Attention to detail and a strong focus on accuracy when reviewing CT scans, segmentations, and pre-operative plans.
• Ability to follow detailed work instructions and prescribed procedures consistently.
• Strong documentation skills for recording activities in accordance with established methods.
• Ability to manage individual workload efficiently to meet production targets.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience or coursework in biomedical fields is beneficial.
• Experience with design, graphic design, or related creative tools that involve precise digital work.
• Familiarity with CAD software, including tools such as SolidWorks or similar platforms.
• Experience with Adobe products, including Photoshop or other design applications.
• Exposure to medical terminology, anatomy, or healthcare environments.
• Experience as a scribe or in roles requiring meticulous digital documentation.
• Interest in or exposure to biomedical design, 3D modeling, or medical device technology.
• Desire to grow into roles such as engineering, sales, onsite robotic surgery representative, or other advanced positions within the medical device field.

Work Environment
This is an in-office position in a relatively quiet, focused atmosphere that supports detailed computer-based work. The role follows a first-shift schedule, typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with voluntary opportunities to work up to 10-hour days. During the holiday season, Saturday work is typically available, and Sunday work may be compensated at a higher rate. The team operates in a close-knit, collaborative environment with a family-like feel, offering opportunities for growth into other areas such as engineering, sales, and onsite robotic surgery support. Business casual dress attire is expected in the office. The work involves extensive use of computers, specialized segmentation and design software, and a proprietary case management system, all in support of cutting edge technology within one of the largest growth areas in the medical device industry.

This is a Contract position based out of Portage, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
