Sonographer (Breast Only)- TBC

Overview The Sonographer is responsible for performing Screening (ABUS) and Diagnostic Ultrasound procedures including complex and specialized procedures such as breast biopsy procedures and breast cyst aspirations at The Breast Center of Northwest Arkansas. Breast Sonographer is responsible for following established policies, procedures, and protocols to perform under the general supervision of the Lead Ultra sonographer, Chief Technologist, and Radiologist. In addition, the sonographer must be able to use a wide variety of equipment and computer programs to meet the requirements of the position. Expectation to have an understanding of equipment maintenance and repairs, quality assurance, quality control, and accreditation requirements. Breast Sonographer independently performs breast ultrasound procedures on varying age groups and performs patient assessment within their scope of practice. Responsibilities Perform Screening (ABUS) and Diagnostic Breast Ultrasounds Perform complex and specialized breast procedures Follow procedure protocol as defined by the TBC Radiologists Proficient in the technical operation of all Ultrasound equipment; use proper care in handling equipment Adhere to established section and organizational protocols, QA guidelines and regulatory requirements. Monitor supplies and equipment inventories in the Ultrasound suites Implement techniques to minimize the occurrence of artifacts and repeat studies Knowledge of Sonography QA and infection control expectations Prioritize the correction of errors in PACS to ensure the radiologist may complete interpretations in a timely manner Understand and communicate patient education material to the patient Communicate with Lead Sonographer, Chief Tech, Director and Radiologists regarding questions or concerns Sonography Procedures Set up and prepare the ultrasound suite for sonography procedure Obtain patient history, review images and MagView (EMR) information for accuracy Attend to patient needs for comfort; show compassion toward patient Assist patients in dressing and navigation through clinic Keep the work area neat and clean Charge procedures correctly and in compliance with all guidelines Perform any other related duties as required or assigned Responsibilities Supporting Patient Care Perform patient assessment within the sonographer scope of practice Bill procedures and associated supplies Use a variety of imaging equipment and understand the capabilities and limitations of each piece of equipment Use the image archiving system and maintain expertise in data and image transfer Notify Chief Technologist & Director when equipment malfunctions; notify the appropriate vendor Clean, disinfect, and inspect equipment Check the status of the sonography equipment to ensure device is in proper operating condition Understand and communicate patient education material to the patient Participate in an ongoing continuing education program to satisfy ARDMS requirements Qualifications Certification by appropriate body (ARDMS or ARRT) CPR Preferred ARDMS Breast Registry ARRT (R)(M) Radiology and Mammography ARRT (R)(S) Radiology and Sonography Arkansas Radiological License Benefits We Offer Medical Insurance Vision Insurance Dental Insurance HSA or FSA options with medical insurance Voluntary Aflac Accident and Critical Illness Employer paid life, long‑term & short‑term disability benefits 401(K) match and profit sharing Up to 21.5 paid days off (PDO, EID and Perfect Attendance benefits) & 6 days paid holidays; during your first year of employment Corporate Discounts: MANA has partnerships with various local and nationwide retailers to provide discounts to you; Dell, ATT, Verizon, UARK Federal Credit Union, and many more!
