Unit Specifics:

• Number of Beds: 26
• Patient Ratios: 2:1
• Unit Staffing Description: RNs and Unit Secretary/COVID Runner. Total care is provided by RNs.
• Type of Equipment: Ventilators, Alaris IV pumps, Balloon pumps, ventriculostomy drains, glucometers. Use of iMobile phones and technology by all staff in the hospital. PPE- includes mask, face shields, goggles, PAPR's and hoods for our COVID-19 patients.
• Documentation System: Meditech using EBCD (Evidence Based Clinical Documentation)
• Scheduling Requirements: All nursing shifts are twelve hours from 7 to 7; every other weekend. Holiday requirements
• Floating Policy: Nursing staff will float to other Medical-Surgical Units in the hospital as needed with priority focus on pulling to Intensive Care Units.
• Patient Experience Requirements: Hourly rounding, bedside hand-off reporting, completion of "My Care Board" during hand-off report; use of AIDET with a focus on compassionate connected care.

Procedures Performed on Unit:

• Intubations
• Cardioversions
• Ventriculostomy drain placement and management
• IABP management
• Continual renal replacement therapy (CRRT)
• Proning of patients

Certifications Required:

• ACLS and BLS
• TNCC a plus

Dress Code:

• Ceil blue scrubs
• White or ceil blue scrub jacket optional
• If working with COVID patients, green surgery scrubs will be provided upon arrival to unit.
