Job DescriptionHelper Ironworker 1 will assist Journeyman Ironworkers with constructing iron/steel structures to specifications.Qualification HighlightsMust have 2+ years of experience as an Industrial Ironworker Helper.Must possess all Knowledge Skills and Abilities for positions (see below).Must be able to meet all physical requirements.Must be able to work at heights more than 300 ft.Must have all required tools.Must have reliable transportation.ResponsibilitiesPosition ResponsibilitiesIdentify all tools required for tasks.Identify safety risks and the precautions required to eliminate those risks.Assist with fabricating equipment according to blueprints or instructions from supervisors.Hoist equipment and tools into a location via bull rigging or crane.Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of structural-steel members, using plumb bobs, laser equipment, transits, and/or levels.Assist with the connecting of columns, beams, and girders with bolts, following blueprints and instructions from supervisors.Bolt aligned structural-steel members in position for permanent riveting or bolting.Pull, push, or pry iron/steel equipment into approximate positions for bolting into place.Cut, bend, and weld iron/steel pieces, using metal shears, torches, and welding equipment.Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesMust have experience with rigging and rigging equipment.Must be able to illustrate knowledge of the construction process of constructing a steel/iron structure.Must have knowledge of basic hand and power tools and their proper use.Must be able to and willing to follow all safety requirements.Must be able to work at Heights.Must have reliable transportation.QualificationsPreferred QualificationsZachry ROF'ed employee.Former Zachry Employee.Reports to PositionThis position does not have any positions reporting to it.Physical RequirementsEmployees will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and lifting.Will talk and hear to communicate.Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls and tools.May be required to pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs.Will work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection requirements.Must be able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses/spoggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots.Required Tools list to be provided.ZACHRY provides a Safe and Drug-Free work environment and is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
