We are looking for a talented Controls Engineer to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for our Engine Business in Rocky Mount, NC.

Job Summary:

Assists with the development of all aspects of control systems, equipment, and machinery.

• Controls Networking: Implement advanced networking solutions that seamlessly connect machines, processes, and data systems to improve visibility, traceability, and operational optimization.
• Controls Safety: Identify and mitigate controls-related hazards—electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic—ensuring safe machine operation and reducing risk across the production environment.
• Controls System Security: Enhance manufacturing system resilience by developing and validating secure controls architectures that protect equipment and data from emerging threats.
• Electrical System Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve electrical control issues quickly and accurately, minimizing downtime and restoring equipment to optimal operating condition.

External Qualifications and Competencies

To be successful in this role, you will need the following:

• Flexibility for Off-Shift Work: Ability to operate effectively during 2nd and 3rd shift hours, maintaining strong communication and coordination with daytime teams to ensure seamless project continuity.
• Technical Controls Expertise: Foundational skills in designing and developing control systems, running bench tests, modifying software and equipment, and ensuring sensors and actuators perform to specification.
• Problem-Solving and Project Support: Capacity to investigate issues, develop solution plans, support debugging activities, and contribute to cost estimates and appropriation requests with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Hands-On PLC and Equipment Support: Willingness and capability to assist with installation, troubleshooting, and technical support of PLC-based hardware and software in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Education, Licenses, Certifications: College, university, or degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) or related field, or equivalent experience required. This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations. Experience: Basic level of relevant experience required.

Additional Responsibilities Unique to this Position

Offshift position - Individual able to work across 2nd/3rd shift hours.
