Are you looking for an opportunity to grow your design career while working on projects that directly impact the electrical grid? We're seeking a Distribution Designer to join a growing power delivery team responsible for designing overhead and underground electrical distribution systems that deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective power to communities.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong design background, AutoCAD experience, and an interest in utility infrastructure. You'll gain exposure to engineering design, field work, customer interaction, and long-term career growth within a collaborative environment.

• Develop designs for overhead and underground electrical distribution projects.
• Create detailed construction drawings, sketches, and project packages.
• Support projects involving cable replacements, system upgrades, new customer connections, and reliability improvements.
• Ensure designs meet client standards, company procedures, and safety requirements.

• Visit project sites to gather measurements and field data.
• Conduct visual inspections and document existing conditions.
• Record equipment inventories and site information using electronic tools.
• Use field observations to support practical, buildable designs.

• Collaborate with engineers, designers, project managers, and utility stakeholders.
• Work closely with customers, developers, contractors, and local agencies.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and update GIS records.
• Support multiple projects while meeting deadlines and quality expectations.

• Associate degree in a design-related field or 2+ years of design/drafting experience.
• Strong AutoCAD experience.
• Experience creating technical drawings and construction documentation.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to perform occasional field visits and site assessments.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.

• Experience with electrical distribution design.
• Familiarity with overhead and underground utility systems.
• Experience using:
  • MicroStation
  • GNetviewer
  • Expert Designer
  • BOUD
  • GIS / Esri-based tools
  • Katapult
• Engineering Technology or Engineering degree.
• Knowledge of transformers, permitting processes, and utility design standards.

• Onsite Monday through Friday during the first year.
• Hybrid flexibility available after approximately 12 months.
• Casual office environment with a team-oriented culture.
• Occasional local field visits.
• Flexible start and end times, typically around 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

This is a Contract position based out of Cincinnati, OH.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
