Job Title:Orientation and Mobility SpecialistPay Range:$55-65/hourJob Description:Orientation and Mobility Specialist | Seattle WA | 2026–2027 School YearAmpersand Therapy is hiring an itinerant Orientation and Mobility (O&M) Specialist for the 2026–2027 school year in the Seattle WA area. We are a women- and therapist-founded company focused on providing meaningful support to school-based professionals and the students they serve.Job Highlights:Position: Orientation and Mobility SpecialistSetting: In-person and school-basedSchedule: Full time, approximately 8:00 AM–3:30 PMMaximum Hours: Up to 40 hours per weekDates: August 27, 2026–June 19, 2027Grade Levels: All grade levelsResponsibilities:Evaluate students’ orientation and mobility needs in school and community environmentsProvide individualized instruction in safe and independent travel skillsTeach skills involving spatial awareness, sensory efficiency, route planning, and cane useDevelop, implement, and monitor orientation and mobility goals within students’ IEPsRecommend environmental modifications and mobility supportsCollaborate with Teachers of the Visually Impaired, families, educators, and related service providersParticipate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary evaluationsMaintain accurate documentation and monitor student progressTravel between assigned schools and instructional environments as neededQualifications:Current Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist credential or applicable state authorizationBachelor’s or master’s degree in orientation and mobility, visual impairments, or a related fieldExperience working with students across multiple grade levels preferredStrong communication, collaboration, and time-management skillsAbility to travel between school sites and provide instruction in varied environmentsBenefits & PerksPaid sick leaveHealthcare benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and flexible spending accounts401(k) with employer matchingReimbursements for licensing, continuing education, and other professional expensesW-2 employmentReferral bonusesPaid volunteer time and donation matchingAccess to guidance and resources from experienced school-based professionalsNo non-compete agreementBenefits are available for most positions that are 0.8 FTE or higher and may vary depending on the individual contract and district placement.
